What Slatebook is
Slatebook (“we”, “us”) operates a career platform connecting candidates and verified employers. The service includes job matching, candidate and recruiter profiles, AI-powered insights and resume tools (some of which require a Pro subscription), messaging between accepted parties, and the public profile / Slate pages.
These terms apply to both candidates and recruiters. Specific sections noted below apply only to one or the other.
Who can use Slatebook
You must be 18 or older to use Slatebook. The information you put into your profile must be truthful — fabricated work history, inflated titles, or claimed skills you don’t have are grounds for immediate account termination. We rely on signal quality from users to keep the platform useful for everyone, and we treat profile fraud seriously.
Recruiter accounts must be associated with a real, currently-employed role at the company you claim. We verify claims via work-email domain matching and manual review. You may not post jobs on behalf of a company you do not work for.
Your content
Candidates. The content you add to your profile, resume, applications, and messages remains yours. You grant Slatebook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and process that content as needed to operate the service (including showing it to recruiters you choose to share it with and generating AI-derived outputs like Job Insights and Tailored Resumes). The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
Recruiters. Job postings, screening questions, and company-page content you upload follow the same arrangement. You also grant us the right to show that content to candidates and to display it on your public company page.
AI features
Slatebook uses AI to power matching, Job Insights, Tailored Resume, resume parsing, and a few other features. The full list of AI subprocessors and what data goes to each is in our Privacy Policy (Section 5 — Third-party services).
AI outputs can occasionally be wrong, biased, or simply unhelpful. You should treat AI-generated bullets, insights, and resume edits as a starting point, not a final answer. We’re not responsible for decisions you or anyone else make based solely on AI outputs.
You retain ownershipof AI-generated content produced for your account (e.g. tailored resume bullets). Use of those outputs outside Slatebook is fine by us as long as you’re honest about your own experience and achievements.
Pro subscription (candidates)
The candidate Pro plan unlocks Job Insights (currently limited to 25 generations per 24-hour rolling window), Tailored Resume (10 generations per 24-hour rolling window), and access to additional resume templates. Pricing, limits, and feature set may change with reasonable notice.
Pro is billed as a subscription. You can cancel at any time from Settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the unused portion of the current billing cycle. If your Pro period expires, you keep your already-generated insights and tailored resumes for the 60-day cache window but can’t generate new ones until you renew.
Recruiter credits (when available)
Recruiter Unlock requests will be billed on a per-unlock credit basis. Full details will be published when the billing flow rolls out. When you spend a credit on an Unlock request, the credit goes into a 7-day escrow: if the candidate accepts, the credit is consumed; if they decline or the request times out, the credit is refunded automatically. If the candidate had already applied to this role through Slatebook, the cost is reduced by 50%.
Credit balances do not expire while your recruiter account is active, but unused credits are not refundable to a payment method except where required by law.
Prohibited uses
You may not, on Slatebook or in connection with it:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the platform (including candidate profiles, job listings, or messages).
- Use Slatebook data to train or fine-tune any AI / ML model.
- Create fake profiles, fake recruiter accounts, or fake employers; impersonate another person or company.
- Submit applications you don’t intend to follow through on, or spray applications without reading roles.
- As a recruiter, send bulk Unlock requests, impersonate a colleague, contact candidates outside the accept-then-message flow, or use unlocked candidate data to recruit for any job other than the one for which they were unlocked.
- Use the service to harass, discriminate, or target anyone based on protected characteristics.
- Probe, reverse-engineer, or attempt to bypass our rate limits, AI gates, or RLS controls.
- Anything illegal under Indian law.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and, for repeat or severe violations, permanent ban without refund.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and (with minor exceptions for abuse logs) irreversible.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a risk to the platform’s users. We’ll usually warn first when the violation is minor; for severe violations (fraud, scraping, abuse) we may suspend immediately.
Changes to the service
We’re actively building Slatebook. Features will be added, occasionally modified, and sometimes removed. For material changes (anything that changes how your data is processed, removes a feature you depend on, or changes pricing), we’ll notify you with at least 7 days’ notice. By continuing to use the service after a change takes effect, you accept the change.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee:
- That any specific candidate will be hired or any specific role will be filled.
- That the recommendation engine will surface the best possible matches.
- That AI outputs (insights, resume bullets, tailored resumes) will be factually accurate or free from error or bias.
- That the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free from defects.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Slatebook in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) ₹5,000.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — even if advised of their possibility.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify Slatebook against any claim arising from (a) content you post on the platform, (b) your breach of these terms, (c) your violation of applicable law in your use of Slatebook, or (d) your violation of any third party’s rights via your use of Slatebook.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these terms or the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Delhi, India, save for the right of either party to seek injunctive relief in any competent court.
Dispute resolution
Before bringing any formal dispute, please reach out to hello@slatebook.in — we genuinely try to resolve issues without involving lawyers. If we can’t resolve a dispute informally within 30 days, the dispute will be referred to arbitration by a sole arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat of arbitration will be Delhi; the language will be English.
