Terms of Service

The rules of the road.

Last updated: June 7, 2026

These terms govern your use of Slatebook. By creating an account, you agree to them. We’ve tried to keep them short and plain — anything unclear, write to support@slatebook.in.

01

Who can use Slatebook

You must be 18 or older. The information you put into your profile must be truthful — fabricated work history, inflated titles, or claimed skills you don’t have are grounds for account termination. We rely on signal quality from users to make the platform useful for other users.

02

Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure (your Google or LinkedIn account, in most cases) and for anything done from your account. Tell us immediately at support@slatebook.in if you suspect unauthorised access.

03

What you can do

  • Build and maintain your professional profile.
  • Connect with people you know, send and receive messages with connections, and vouch for collaborators.
  • Browse and apply to jobs surfaced by our recommendation engine.
  • Publish a public profile and Slate at your username.
04

What you can’t do

  • Impersonate someone else or claim a public identity (CEO, founder, etc.) you don’t hold.
  • Send unsolicited messages, harass, or spam other users. Recruiter cold-outreach without consent is prohibited.
  • Scrape, mass-export, or otherwise harvest data about other users beyond what the normal UI supports.
  • Post content that’s defamatory, infringes intellectual property, or violates Indian law.
  • Attempt to break into the platform’s systems or disrupt the service.
  • Use Slatebook to discriminate against candidates on the basis of caste, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected category.
05

AI features

Slatebook uses semantic analysis, language models, and our own industry intelligence to power features like résumé parsing, profile-based recommendations, and résumé bullet suggestions. These outputs can occasionally be wrong. You’re responsible for reviewing AI-generated text on your profile or résumé before sending it anywhere that matters.

06

Jobs surfaced on Slatebook

We scrape and aggregate job listings from publicly-available company career pages. We do our best to keep them fresh, but listings may be stale, miscategorised, or filled by the time you see them. Slatebook is an aggregator and matching service — we’re not the employer, and we don’t guarantee a response, interview, or offer from any company.

07

Content you contribute

You keep all rights to your own profile content. By posting it, you grant Slatebook the limited rights it needs to display your profile to people you’ve granted access to, surface you in matching results, and run the AI features described above. That’s the only license you give us. If you delete your account, that license ends.

08

Recruiter and employer use

If you use Slatebook as a recruiter or employer, you may only message candidates whose configured preferences allow it. Unsolicited cold-DMs are prohibited; repeat violations lead to account suspension.

09

Pro features and payment

Some features may be offered as paid “Pro” features in future. If and when paid features launch, billing terms, refunds, and cancellation will be presented at the signup for that tier. Free features remain free.

10

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; for serious violations (fraud, harassment, unauthorised access) we may do so without prior notice.

11

Service availability

Slatebook is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability or that the service will always be free of bugs or errors. We’ll communicate planned downtime in advance when possible.

12

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Slatebook is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total cumulative liability shall not exceed the fees you have paid us in the twelve months prior to a claim (or INR 1,000 if no fees were paid).

13

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Indian law. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of [city to be confirmed based on the operating entity’s registered address].

14

Changes to these terms

If we make substantive changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and notify active users at least seven days before they take effect. Continued use after that date counts as acceptance.
