About
A hiring platform where the candidate is the customer.
LinkedIn and Naukri sell your inbox to recruiters. We don’t. Slatebook sells software to you, the candidate — Pro, Hiro, tailored resumes — and keeps your data pointed at outcomes you actually care about.
Why we built this
Because the incentives are backwards.
Every established job platform in India is monetised on the recruiter side. Which means every product decision — what data is collected, what’s shown to whom, whose inbox gets filled — quietly optimises for the recruiter, not the person applying. You end up as a lead in someone else’s pipeline.
Slatebook flips it. The professional pays (or gets Pro free for their first few months, or free-for-life via an institution). Your Slatebook profile is a record you own. Hiro is an agent that works for you, not for anyone hiring you. Recruiters and companies exist on the platform — but they see what you decide to show, not the other way around.
The four things we won’t compromise on
Principles.
Candidate-owned, always
Your profile, your work record, your Hiro brief, your job preferences — you own them, you export them, you delete them. No dark patterns.
AI that works FOR you, not on you
Hiro is your agent — scoped to your case, transparent about its reasoning, auditable in a per-user log. Not a shared algorithm selling everyone the same shortlist.
Confidential by default
Salary, phone, email, DOB — none of it is shared with recruiters or surfaced in Hiro's outputs. You decide, per-conversation, what a recruiter sees about you.
India-first, not India-also
INR comp bands, Indian companies, Indian institutional network, IST scheduling. We're not a US platform bolted onto an Indian region.
Who’s behind Slatebook
A small team, building this hands-on.
Slatebook is being built out of India by professionals who’ve been through the Indian hiring circuit as both candidates and hiring managers. Every design decision — from the 3-month Pro gift to the way Hiro refuses to quote your salary — comes from something broken we’ve personally lived through.
We’re in closed beta while we onboard the first wave of professionals + tier-1 alumni networks. If you’re curious about what we’re building or want to be part of it, get in touch.
