Lead Analyst/Principal Analyst – Strategic Intelligence – Financial Research
D. E. Shaw
D. E. Shaw
We are looking for a highly motivated and resourceful candidate to join our Strategic Intelligence Group based in Gurugram. The team manages custom projects, connects analysts with a dynamic network of top-tier professionals, and assists the investment team in gaining a deeper understanding of the companies they cover through regular engagements with in-house expert resources and external subject-matter experts.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will connect our investment teams with subject-matter experts to support their research and deepen their understanding of the companies and topics they cover. You will look beyond what each analyst asks to understand what they're truly trying to learn, then shape that intent into a focused research agenda — deciding which experts and direction will move the needle and driving the research and outreach to bring them to the table. You will bring structure to broad or ambiguous requests, turning open-ended questions into well-scoped projects. Clear, precise, and thoroughly documented written communication will be central to how you align stakeholders and set expectations. You will screen experts for genuine relevance and suitability — to help protect analysts' time and distill your findings into concise profiles that help inform expert selection before facilitating the consultations themselves. Every project will be scoped and executed within our regulatory and compliance requirements, which you will incorporate from the outset. Delivering across several concurrent projects will require deliberate prioritization and disciplined turnaround, with a strategic view of where to focus your attention Throughout, the judgment you apply — what to pursue, whom to engage, how to frame it, and when to escalate – will shape the quality and usability of the insight our analysts receive. You will handle sensitive information with discretion and engage credibly with senior stakeholders, while building durable relationships with external experts. Beyond delivery, you will lead process improvements, mentor colleagues, and partner with our technology teams to streamline and automate workflows, helping strengthen the team's overall effectiveness and capabilities.
