The D. E. Shaw group seeks a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join its growing Middle Office function in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Gurugram, India. This team supports the lifecycle of the firm's global trading strategies and serves as a key link between the front office and operational teams. This desk-coverage role offers the opportunity to support the firm's trading desks day-to-day, build subject matter expertise across the trade lifecycle, and contribute to process improvements in a collaborative, forward-thinking, and inclusive environment. This position will initially be an individual contributor role, with the potential to assume people management responsibilities in the future based on business needs and the candidate's interest.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for trading desk inquiries, supporting post-trade operations across multiple asset classes and strategies. You will support the trade lifecycle from execution through settlement, helping ensure accurate and timely processing of trade events-including trade capture, P&L, security master, settlements, and corporate actions. You will also investigate and resolve discrepancies across internal systems and external data sources, escalating issues as appropriate. Additionally, you will assist in building and maintaining workflows, dashboards, and tools that monitor trading activity and operational health. You will coordinate with front office, back office, and external counterparties to help resolve operational, settlement, or reconciliation issues. Furthermore, you will develop subject matter expertise in internal booking systems and workflows and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate should hold —
Basic qualifications
A postgraduate degree and 2+ years of experience in fund operations or middle/back-office roles within the financial services sector
A good understanding of trade lifecycle operations, including trade capture, P&L, security master, and settlement processes
Exceptional communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with a keen desire to grow and take ownership in a dynamic setting
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
Preferred qualifications
Experience managing front office inquiries and coordinating with internal/external stakeholders to resolve operational issues
Familiarity with financial software such as Bloomberg or Capital IQ
Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI) or experience with process automation
